This hand-carved block printed patch depicting Angela Davis is a special edition print that raises funds for Books Through Bars. Each print purchase raises $10 that goes towards helping prisoners receive requested books that are not available in prisons or prison libraries.
Angela Davis is a political activist, scholar, and organizer whose work has shaped movements for Black liberation, feminism, and prison abolition. She became internationally known in the late 1960s and 1970s for her involvement in radical liberation movements, her persecution and acquittal in a political prosecution, and her lifelong critique of racism, state violence, and the prison system.
This print depicts Davis as an icon of collective resistance linking political education with organized struggle. Symbols throughout reference prison abolition, political prisoners, police violence, and mass movements, emphasizing her argument that repression is systemic and sustained by the state. This piece functions as both historical record and as a warning: liberation is built through knowledge, solidarity, and sustained resistance.
